We are a manufacturer of the finest quality Western red cedar and Alaskan yellow cedar shakes and shingles. Founded in 1968 in the town of Comox B.C, Canada, the mill operated in that location for a few years before moving to our present location in beautiful Campbell River. CV Shakes was the first to operate a shingle machine on the northern part of Vancouver Island.

For over 50 years, Comox Valley Shakes & Shingles has been producing high-quality cedar shakes and shingles. One thing that has never changed is our commitment to sourcing the best raw materials in order to craft the very best shake and shingle products possible. We are fortunate to have the most productive and quality-conscious craftspeople in the business.

Comox Valley Shakes was founded by the Schmidt family and run as such until 2019 at which time the We Wai Kai Nation took over the mill and its operations.

Comox Valley Shakes manufactures Shingle Products in 18 inch lengths with grades one to three, Split and Re-sawn as well as Tapersawn Shakes available in Premium, number one and standard grades.

Our western red and yellow cedar shakes and shingles are graded in accordance with CSA and UBC standards of certification. Comox Valley Shakes has been a member of the Cedar Shake & Shingle Bureau for over 30 years
